A former governor spoke to a Dallas County Republican group about his potential run to be the President of the United States on Tuesday.
Former two term Governor of Arkansas Asa Hutchinson made a stop at the Des Moines West KOA Campground in Adel and discussed his possible campaign agenda in front of the Capitol Region Republican Women. Hutchinson told Raccoon Valley Radio that he came to Iowa because the state is very important in choosing the next president of the United States.
“I’ve never seen more serious discussion of issues. And so whenever you come here and you have entrepreneurs, you have farmers, and we talk about excessive federal spending, we talk about the issues of Ukraine and border security and fentanyl. This is what America is about in terms of a serious look at the future as we pick our future leaders. And so I’m here because I have a consistent conservative message that I want to convey.”
Hutchinson believed his experience as Arkansas’s Governor along with being a former US Attorney under President Ronald Reagan and the former administrator of federal drug enforcement under President George W. Bush will make him stand out as a Republican presidential candidate, if he decides to run. Hutchinson said he will make a decision on whether to run for office in April.
