A Grand Junction man that is accused of attempted murder has demanded a speedy trial.

According to court documents, 31-year-old Adam Coy is charged with a Class B Felony for attempt to commit murder, a Class C Felony for willful injury resulting in serious injury, and a Class D Felony for domestic abuse assault. Court documents show that Coy pled not guilty to the charges from the February 4th alleged incident where Coy discharged a firearm in the direction of the victim with the intent of killing her.

Court documents show that Coy and his defense attorney have demanded a speedy trial, which means a trial must happen within 90 days of the indictment or trial information being filed. The Greene County Attorney’s Office has requested the court to take the matter to a trial scheduling conference, due to there being two other cases in Greene County that have requested speedy trials, the county being limited to jury trial dates once every five weeks and the county attorney has international travel plans scheduled for May which could make it difficult to identify another trial date. On March 24th, District Court Judge Christopher Polking granted the state’s motion and directed court administration to set a trial scheduling conference.
