3:58am: A deputy removed a deer from the roadway on Kirkwood and L Avenue.

3:12pm: A deputy investigated a two-vehicle accident on 150th Street and N Avenue. Gary Betts 71 of Jefferson was heading North on N Avenue and was turning East on 150th Street in a 2006 Peterbilt Semi and trailer. Adam Schmit 43 of Rockwell City was following behind Betts in a 2000 Chevrolet Tahoe. Schmit dropped a cigarette and did not see the semi turning. Schmit swerved to the east hitting the semi in the front passenger side bumper and then continued into the ditch. The damage estimated to the Tahoe is 6,000 dollars. The damage estimated to the Peterbilt was 2,500 dollars. Schmit was cited for failure to maintain control and operating a non- registered vehicle.

5:19pm: A deputy, Grand Junction Fire, Rippey Fire, Perry Fire, Dawson Fire, Yale Fire, Jefferson Fire, and Bouton Fire Departments responded to 2302 U Avenue for a structure fire. A barn, garage, shed, camper, and several vehicles were lost in the fire. The cause of the fire is unknown.

6:20pm: A deputy investigated a careless driving complaint at the Paton city park.

11:00pm: Jessie Sanders 21 of Jefferson was booked into the jail for failure to appear.

In all cases when a defendant has been charged, this is merely an accusation, and all

defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty.
