The Greene County Chapter of Ducks Unlimited are hosting their annual fundraiser this Saturday.
Organizer Dr. Steve Karber says the event takes place at Clover Hall on the Greene County Fairgrounds in Jefferson with a social time at 5:30pm and the meal to be served at 7pm. He tells Raccoon Valley Radio the meal is catered by Bett and Bev’s Barbecue in Jefferson with prime rib or smoked turkey, along with cheesy potatoes, baked beans, a lettuce salad and beverages with a cash bar or ice tea and lemonade provided.
Following the meal, Karber points out the live and silent auctions will begin. He notes some of the featured items in the auctions, as well as several raffles, including ten different shotguns, along with a 28-gauge silver black eagle shotgun. Other items include a cooler with lots of tailgating items, a $100 meat bundle, a half of a lamb, art prints, and other donated items from various businesses.
Karber says all proceeds from their fundraiser goes to the national Ducks Unlimited program, where since the 1940s, Ducks Unlimited has secured over 15 million acres of wetlands. Locally, Karber says some of the projects have included Dunbar Slough, Snake Creek, Cedar Grove and an upcoming project will take place at Goose Lake. Tickets for the fundraiser at $40, which includes an annual membership and the meal, or $60 for a couple. Tickets are available to purchase from Karber, Steve Carlson or George Dobney, or at the door.
