The Stuart City Council met in regular session Monday night.

The Council heard an update from Stuart Public Works Director Jim Henderson on the prices of rock and sand and approved a request to increase selling price. He said that his department is currently buying rock from a quarry at $18.60 per ton, and selling it at $18 per ton, and that they’re buying sand at about $16 per ton and selling at $10 per ton. With the costs of materials and transport rising, Henderson asked to raise the selling price of both materials to $24 so that transport and purchase of materials would be covered.

Brenda Dudley then made a report to the Council on the Bonnie and Clyde Fun Run route, which they approved. The Council also approved, per attorney consideration, the building of an electric fence at Manheim, the adoption of the 2023-24 city budget, and a loan agreement not to exceed $150,000. They then approved use of the concession stand at the city sports complex by The Cup on 2nd, the addition of two more manhole replacements in the Manhole Project, and took no action at this time on new cameras for the police department.

City Engineer Forrest Aldrich gave an update on the Wambold Addition, and the Council approved some soil boring, a survey of the Tibben Plat and some easements on it, and to set a public hearing date on April 24th during a special meeting. The Council then approved a signage easement, sanitary sewer easement and quit claim deed pertaining to Kwik Star, and a motion of support for a grant that would be used to do work on White Pole Road after a presentation by Guthrie County Engineer Josh Sebern
