It’s spring break week at the Greene County School District, and although the track & field season has just begun, this will be a light week of practice, culminating on Saturday with the Buena Vista University indoor meet for high school girls and boys in Storm Lake. Saturday’s meet is the final indoor competition for the Rams with the outdoor season scheduled to begin on Monday, March 27 in Jefferson at the Rams Early Bird Coed Meet in Jefferson at Linduska Field.
Last week saw the boys take part in the A.D. Dickinson Relays in Cedar Falls inside the UNI-Dome and the Indoor State Championship in Ames at the Lied Student Recreation Center. The girls went the Dickinson Relays, but were weathered out of the Indoor Championships.
The early results indoors hold some promise for the upcoming outdoors campaigns. The Greene County girls have a more veteran squad with State Meet experience while the boys have displayed some younger talent so far.
