This weekend there is a time change across Iowa to help make the days longer.
Daylight Saving Time begins this Sunday at 2am. Clocks will need to be set one hour ahead from 2am to 3am on Sunday. Jefferson Fire Chief Jack Williams says Daylight Saving Time is another good reminder to do this maintenance activity for smoke and carbon monoxide detectors in your home.
“Just make sure you change the batteries, generally the 9-volt batteries, replace those in all of your smoke detectors, carbon monoxide detectors, and just make sure to test them to make sure that they’re still working.”
Additionally to setting clocks forward one hour, some electronic devices such as smartphones and tablets should have internal clocks that automatically jump ahead, but other clocks may have to be set manually.
