Perry Parks and Recreation are encouraging parents or guardians to get involved after a shortage in coaches the last couple of years.
Assistant Parks and Recreation Coordinator Becky Halling says they are in need of coaches for their spring outdoor soccer league for ages six and eight under. She says that having volunteer coaches is critical to be able to run youth sports.
“We’re always looking for coaches and volunteers, and then our programs run very heavily on volunteer coaches. And without those coaches, we don’t have programs. So forever grateful for the ones that have stepped up to the plate to help us. But we’re always looking for coaches who want to help, assist and or take on the role.”
Halling says that parents or guardians can volunteer to coach by clicking yes on their online registration form or by calling the McCreary Recreation Center.
