The Greene County Cattlemen’s Association recently held its banquet and trophy auction.

Brandon Muir with the Greene County Cattlemen tells Raccoon Valley Radio they raised $29,775 and served about 170 people last Saturday. President Justin Robbins talks about the community support they receive every year.

“It’s just a heart-warming feeling knowing that people trust us with their funds to be able to go on and be able to put it in other places. Whether we’re going to grill for the school or whether we’re able to help out with the ARC (Action Resource Center) with a little bit of meat, those are the things that really warm your heart and just show that people believe in you.”

Muir adds the traveling trophy, which is awarded to the business that donates the most during the event, was given to Curt Wills of M&W Ag Supply for his $3,300 total contribution for the trophy auction. He points out that new this year, the Cattlemen’s auctioned off the sponsorship of next year’s banquet, which was won by Bill and Brenda Thorp.
