Midwest Behavioral Health
A few religious organizations in Greene County recently made donations to other non-profit groups.
The First Presbyterian Church in Jefferson applied for three mission grants with the North Central Iowa Presbytery. Midwest Behavioral Health/Iowa House Incorporated received $3,000 to help offset the expenses with the Iowa House, which is a group residential home that supports individuals seeking treatment for substance dependence and mental illness.
Greene County Adopt-a-Family was the recipient of $750, as they help with the holiday food baskets during Christmas time and provide winter coats to families in the fall. The First Presbyterian Church also gave $750 to the Good Samaritan Fund that helps provide emergency relief for families. Greene County New Opportunities Coordinator Teresa Lansman administers the program.
Additionally, the Greater Greene County Presbyterian Ministry also donated canned soup for the food pantry during the final game of the NFL season. They gave 2,324 cans to the Greene County Action Resource Center in Jefferson and $175 came from the Paton Presbyterian Church.
