Greene County New Opportunities is reminding residents of an important winter time program that qualified households can still sign up for.
Greene County Coordinator Teresa Lansman tells Raccoon Valley Radio the Low Income Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP) continues until April 30th. She says LIHEAP can help households with a one-time payment of funds to offset high heating costs during the winter. She talks about the cut-off for households that can qualify for this program.
“We are lucky to still be at the 200-percent poverty guideline. We have upped it because of a different program. For a family of two it’s $36,620 a year, (and) a family of five it’s $64,940.”
Lansman notes this past January and February saw some really cold temperatures and she is asking for any household who thinks they could qualify for LIHEAP to reach out and apply. To sign up for LIHEAP you have to have Social Security cards for everyone in the household, and an electric and gas billing statement. Contact Lansman to schedule an appointment at 515-386-2719.
