West Marshall (State Center), the champions of the Heart of Iowa Activities Conference in girls’ basketball, played on Tuesday at the Class 3A girls’ state basketball tournament in Des Moines in the Class 3A quarterfinals. Greene County went 0-3 this season vs. the Trojans, who are ranked third in 2A and entered Tuesday with a 23-1 record.
Sixth seeded Sioux Center coasted to a 79-53 quarterfinal State Tournament victory over West Marshall, the number three seed. SC advances to the semifinals while the Trojans end their season with a 23-2 record.
The Heart of Iowa will be represented next week at the Boys’ State Tournament in Class 2A by league Champion Roland-Story (Story City).
