A quiet game from the scoring leader Emma Miner did not phase Dallas Center-Grimes as they continue their season with a win on Tuesday.
Miner averages 15 points per game and was held to 9 points in the state quarterfinal round of the state tournament but it did not matter. Mustangs surpassed the Glenwood Rams by a score of 57 to 39.
Finley Fitzgerald led all scorers with 17 points while Josie Lampe caught fire making 3 out of 5 three point attempt and collected 12 points and eight rebounds. Vanessa Bickford also chipped in 10 points and eight boards. Dallas Center-Grimes raced out to an early 10 point lead in the first quarter but Glenwood would fight their way back to get within two points at the end of the first period. A run of 15 to 7 by the Mustangs would give them the lead at halftime 27-17. Then they would open up another run and this time it was a 15 to 2 run which propelled them to 42 to 19 lead.
DCG has now 10 straight games with a 21-3 record on the season. They advanced to their third consecutive semi-final appearance and will face a familiar opponent the Ballard Bombers who they lost to in game 1 in overtime 48 to 56. Raccoon Valley Radio will have play-by-play coverage from the Wells Fargo Arena with the game time set at 5pm on Thursday.
