Local superintendents have had some time to think about what the 3% increase to State Supplemental Aid could do for their districts.

Panorama Superintendent Shawn Holloway is happy that this year’s increase is higher than it has been previously, but would have liked to see it higher. He says that Panorama is a district that uses what they get from SSA (SSA) the best that they can, but there are limits to what they can do with the small increases.

“If we get new money, we try to give that out into pay raises, but we’re not a school that’s increasing in enrollment. So it’s hard for us to go above that mark very often.”

Holloway adds that other sectors are getting larger increases to keep up with the cost of living, and would like for that to happen for education as well, especially since inflation is so much higher than the increase to SSA.
