An Indiana man was recently arrested and faces multiple charges from an alleged incident last week in Adair County.
According to court documents, Andre Washington II, 39-years-old of Kokomo, Indiana, was charged with two Class D Felonies for possession of a firearm while being a felon and first offense for trafficking a stolen weapon after being pulled over for a traffic stop because of a faulty license plate lamp, and for traveling 75 miles per hour in a 70 mile per hour zone. During the traffic stop, the Stuart Police Officer noticed the smell of marijuana coming from Washington. Washington admitted to having marijuana and handed over a small baggie.
The officer then searched Washington, and found another, larger bag of marijuana. A search of the vehicle recovered a loaded handgun on the floor between the driver’s seat and front passenger’s seat. A check of the firearm came back that it was stolen and Washington was a convicted felon. Washington was additionally charged with a serious misdemeanor for his second offense for possession of marijuana.
Washington was booked into the Adair County Jail. Raccoon Valley Radio will bring you more information as it becomes official.
