The new State Supplemental Aid (SSA) increase of 3% was passed a few weeks ago and signed into law, and area school administration is weighing in on it.

West Central Valley Schools Superintendent Rusty Shockley says that while the increase doesn’t match the increase in inflation, it’s nice to receive one of the highest increases in SSA in recent years. He says that schools including West Central Valley will still need to be frugal going forward, but the increase to general funds should allow them to spend a little more in areas like staff pay and textbook expenses.
