The Adair County Iowa State University Extension and Outreach is looking for donations and sponsors for one of its yearly summer programs.
Youth Coordinator Caroline Savage says that the Speak Out For Agriculture (SOFA) group will be making its annual educational trip over the summer. She mentions that SOFA gives high school students an opportunity to learn more about agriculture, including some of the different careers in the industry.
Savage tells Raccoon Valley Radio that this year the SOFA group is going to be traveling to Kansas. She adds that while on the 2-3 day trip, the group will visit Kansas State University, the Wrigley-Mars Chocolate Factory, and a flour mill. Savage adds that the group will also visit an angus ranch, a dairy farm, and take an opportunity to do some community service as well.
