The Iowa Girls High School Athletic Union announced their state tournament bracket and Dallas Center-Grimes sits at the top.
Dallas Center-Grimes in the class 4a will be the top seed and face in the quarterfinal round the number #8 seed Glenwood (16-8) at 11:45pm on Tuesday, February 28th. The Mustangs will be making third straight appearance in the state tournament and the second consecutive year collecting the number one seed in the tournament. Dallas Center-Grimes came up shy of winning a state championship last year losing in the semi-final round to Xavier.
Glenwood will be making their fourth straight appearance in the state tournament as they knocked of Pella in their region final. They will be a tough matchup in the first round of the state championship bracket as their led by a pair seniors which includes Jenna Hopp and Kate Hughes. Hopp is one of the top players in the state averaging a double-double with 24 points and 12 rebounds and leads the state in scoring with 581 points and in steals with 110.
It’ll be a fun matchup between Dallas Center-Grimes and Glenwood next week in the Wells Fargo Arena and Raccoon Valley Radio will support the Mustangs in their postseason run with live coverage on KDLS 94.3, 99.7 FM and 1310AM. The full bracket it linked here.
