The Perry School Board approved at their latest meeting a software to better manager a student’s safety
Superintendent Clark Wicks says the school district will be implementing the Go Guardian System which will help teachers and other staff members identify which students are struggling with mental health. Wicks commends the Board to taking a proactive step to a problem students often face. He further explains how the system will work.
“So the program, the software, red flags activity that we think we can help with. Now we’re just at the beginning stages. So I’m just getting this, the board just proves this. We’re just talking about it. It’s not in place. You know, it’s not going to be in place just immediately. But we need to talk to students. We need to talk to parents. We need to talk to the community. As far as what (Go) Guardian (Beacon) is and what the ultimate purpose is and that is to have kids back on the success track as opposed to the depression, the anxiety or suicide.”
The Board approved the purchase of the system for the amount of $78,876.
