The Perry Chamber of Commerce held a successful annual event last weekend that drew visitors from all over the state.

Executive Director Lynsi Pasutti says 20th Annual Chocolate Walk was a self-guided tour of shops that serve complimentary chocolate treats at each stop. Pasutti explains that they had a record number of businesses involved and tickets sold. She tells Raccoon Valley Radio it’s hard keeping up with the growth of this event which is a good problem to have.

“This event has really grown over the years, 20 years in the making. Before it was like, ‘Oh yeah, maybe like 100 people total.’ And every year that I’ve been around, we’ve always had to kind of, okay, prepare for 100, 125, 150. You better make it more than that so that you don’t run out.

Pasutti says that participants had the incentive to visit each business to put their name in a drawing to win a grand prize. Pasutti mentions the winner was Missy Coy from Jewell, Iowa and she won a gift card to the Hotel Pattee Cafe. She talks about the traveling participants for the Chocolate Walk.

“We got people coming from all over the place including the greater Des Moines area, Adel, Ogden, Ottumwa, Jefferson, Newton all over the place.”

Perry’s Chocolate Walk is always held on the second Saturday of February, right around Valentines Day.
