Greene County Elementary School enjoyed some entertainment on Friday, while also helping out a fellow student in the school district.
Principal Audrey Hinote tells Raccoon Valley Radio high school student Ashlynn Hinners was doing a t-shirt donation drive for the People of Animal Welfare Society (PAWS) through the high school accelerated government class. Hinote says the elementary school got involved and students who brought in old t-shirts would have their name entered into a drawing to throw a pie in her face. She talks about how this kind of incentive has been fun to see more students and even staff participating.
“Parents with older kids are donating for their younger kids, just to have as many opportunities as possible. We even have a staff pool as well, I thought that would be fun for staff to get engaged. So staff, they have a decision between, ‘Do I donate it to a child in my class or do I put my own name in there?’ So that’s been fun for them.”
Hinote had about 6-7 pies from all grade levels at the elementary school thrown in her face. She adds that these t-shirts would then be used to make dog toys for the canines at the shelter.
