It’s day three of the Iowa High School State Wrestling Tournament at Wells Fargo Arena in Des Moines and the Raccoon Valley Radio listening area  has nine semifinalists and 22 others still going entering today on the consolation side of each bracket. Class 1A starts at 9 a.m. with 2A at 1:30 p.m. and 3A at 6 p.m.

Area Class 1A semifinalists:

120 Teagan Slaybaugh, ACGC Jr. 46-2 vs. Teague Smith, West Hancock, Fr. 47-1

126 Kolton Munson, Ogden Jr. 40-1 vs. Dawson Schmitt, Wapsie Valley 39-7

170 Ryan Stiles, Earlham Jr. 36-5 vs. Maximus Magayna, Columbus Catholic (Waterloo) 45-1

2A semifinalists:

132 Kale Petersen, Greene County Sr. 38-0 vs. Nick Koch, North Fayette Valley Sr. 35-3

138 McKinley Robbins, Greene County Sr. 46-0 vs. Tate Slagle, Algona Soph. 45-4

170 Jackson Boese, Van Meter Sr. 37-6 vs. CJ Walrath, Sr. Notre Dame Burlington 54-0

3A semifinalists:

120 Koufax Christensen, Waukee Northwest Jr. 40-1 vs. Blake Giomo, Cedar Rapids Prairie Sr. 44-5

132 Carter Freeman, Waukee Northwest Jr., 30-3 vs. Kael Kurtz, Iowa City, City High Jr. 36-5

170 Jacob Fistler, Dallas Center-Grimes Sr. 36-2 vs. Seth Madden, North Scott (Eldridge) 40-6

The semifinals are on the middle two mats with the consolations on the outer four mats as the eight mats used the first two days are reduced to six. A consolation win means a guaranteed top eight finish and a spot on the podium Saturday night, but a loss in the opening consolation round means elimination from the tournament.
