The AC/GC Chargers girls basketball team ended their season Tuesday night, after traveling to Treynor to face off against the Cardinals in the second round of Class 2A Region 7 play. The Chargers came out shooting hot, getting to an early 5-0 lead in the first couple minutes, but the Cardinals turned things around and hit from almost everywhere they shot. They streaked out to a quick lead, and the Chargers ended the first quarter down 10-26.
Treynor continued to make shots from all over the court, and AC/GC went into the locker room for halftime down 23-47. The Chargers were held to only six points in the third quarter, but drained 16 in the fourth after both teams sent out the junior varsity squads. The Chargers ultimately fell 45-72.
It was a hard fought, emotional game for the team, especially seniors Taylor Carlson and Sophie Dorsey, who were some of the first players Coach Brad Baudler had when he started coaching the team during the pair’s freshman year.
