2022 Tower of Fame winner Chuck Offenburger
A deadline is fast approaching for nominations for this year’s Tower of Fame Award.
Award Committee Chair Carole Custer says this award has been given at every Bell Tower Festival and is for anyone who lived part of their life in Greene County and whose professional or personal accomplishments internationally, nationally or statewide brings pride and a positive image to the county. She tells Raccoon Valley Radio she continues to serve with this committee as the chair to provide continuity from year to year, since the selection committee is made up of past festival chairs, which not all of them always decide who the next winner will be.
Custer talks about what her favorite part of being the Tower of Fame Award Committee Chair is.
“Telling the person who won. I mean it is the best. Sometimes we surprise people, we’ve gone out of town and surprised them. Other times I’ve called them on their phone and they’re driving. It is just a wonderful opportunity because everybody is surprised.”
Custer encourages anyone who has submitted a previous nomination to update with any new information and nominees don’t have to be living to receive the award. The deadline for nominations is Friday at the Welcome Center. This year’s recipient will be honored at the opening ceremonies of the Bell Tower Festival in June and will also serve as the parade marshal. Click the link below to access the nomination form.
