Dallas Center-Grimes basketball teams sweep Pella in a home doubleheader on Friday.
DCG girls faced off against the Dutch for a rematch in their last regular season game. The Mustangs already clinch the conference championship but this game was to solidify their achievement and to beat every team in the Little Hawkeye Conference twice. The game started out fast for the Mustangs going on a 7 to 0 run but the Dutch would come storming back and trail by four at the end of the first period. Pella would outscore DCG in the second quarter but still trail 20 to 22. Kylie Tauke would hit three third period three pointers to put the Dutch within one. But in the fourth quarter a 9 to 0 run with 3 minutes to go from the Mustangs would later seal the basketball game and cement the (14-0) conference record for Dallas Center-Grimes. Emma Miner scored 22 points and Finley Fitzgerald would pinch in 14. They are now (18-3) on the season and will face the winner of Perry or Carroll on February 18th at home.
The Dallas Center-Grimes boys team looked to carry their momentum from the win over Pella Christian on Tuesday. They’d face a Pella Dutch team missing Luke Hardman their top scorer. The first two quarter were tight but the Mustangs would have narrow lead at half 26 to 23. The Mustangs would go on a 14 to 3 run to start the third quarter which would propel them to a 64 to 49 win over Pella. Calix Cahill scored 21 points and Jackson Green would add 14 along with Tate Perrin attaching 10 points.
The boys Dallas Center-Grimes team will be in action in Grimes on Tuesday against a very good North Polk and that game will be broadcasted live on KDLS-2 which can be found here.
