One of Dallas County Conservation Board’s most popular programs still has dates available.

DCCB Outreach Coordinator Sarah Gilchrist says that their “Conversation with an Owl,” has been a hit with residents. She says that people love being close and personal with their rehabilitated barred owl named Strix.

“It’s one of those things that people don’t very often get up close and personal with an owl. And so we start off in the shelter house there at Hanging Rock in Redfield with a fire in the fireplace. And it’s just kind of a neat ambiance there. We learn about owls and then we get to go out hiking and practice calling the owls. And it’s just a really neat experience in the evening. And that’s what makes it so popular.”

There will be a Conversation with an Owl today at 6pm and 7:30pm at the Hanging Rock shelterhouse along with the final program on Thursday from 6pm and 7:30pm at the same location. People looking to attend must register to participate with the link here.
