The St. Patrick’s Catholic School in Perry held a food drive and donated several items.
Principle Kandice Pattillo says they held a food drive during National Catholic Schools Week and they collected and donated 286 items to the Perry Area Food Pantry. Principal Pattillo was proud of all her students for donating.
“I think the kids loved it. It was something we’ve done in the past and we look forward to doing it every year. It’s a good way to give back and help them look at it. And tying it to Catholic Schools Week is a great thing to do because one of the themes for Catholic Schools Week” ‘We get service.’ So what a better way to have the kids bring something in and share it with the community and give back to something local, which is what we want to do.”
Pattillo was extra proud of the eighth grade class that brought in 14.6 items per student and earned an out-of-uniform pass for their contributions.
