It was Greene County at Perry for a Heart of Iowa Activities Conference girl/boy basketball doubleheader last night on KG98 and streamed on www.raccoonvalleyracdio.com, and the home team swept the twin bill. The girls’ final was 50-28 and it was 71-56 in the boys’ game. Both contests were heard on KG98 and 1310 KDLS as well as streamed on www.raccoonvalleyradio.com.
Perry’s girls had 28 points from senior Lydia Olejniczak as they improved to 5-12 overall and 3-9 in Heart of Iowa Activities Conference play wile the Rams fell to 0-17 and 0-12. Esther Van Horn had eight points for the Rams. Greene County senior point guard Emma Hoyle did not play due to an ankle injury, which has been an issue much of the season. She hurt the ankle Tuesday night while warming up for the game. The Rams made four three-point shots and were 12 of 41 overall. Perry was 19 of 57 overall and two of nine on three’s. Turnovers favored the home team 27-8. The Rams were down by 17 points in the first half, but cut the deficit to 31-24 at the end of the third quarter. A 19-4 fourth quarter advantage for the Jayettes sealed the win. Greene County held a 34-33 rebounding edge with 10 boards from senior Kamryn Sanders.
Perry’s boys improved to 5-13 overall and 3-9 in league play by shooting 59% from the floor and scoring 17 points over their game average. The Rams fell to 7-10 and 6-6 and were led by 19 points from Richard Daugherty with 16 of his points in the first half. Gabe Ebersole scored 15 points with 10 by Jesse Miller and nine from Trey Schilling. Geren Kenney had 23 and Brandon Mahler 21 for Perry. The Blue Jays sank eight three-pointers, seven in the first half and they led 42-30 at intermission. The Rams made 44% of their field goal attempts and had seven long range baskets and just eight turnovers to 13 for the Blue Jays.

It’s Athletic Hall of Fame Night with the 2023 inductees being introduced to the crowd between games. The Hall of Fame Class includes Allison Drewry, Bryce Paup, Kelly Lane, Mark Lane, and Doug Rieder.
