The Perry girls basketball team defeated Greene County 50-28 Tuesday night inside the Perry Sports Pavilion. The Jayettes fell behind early but rallied in the second quarter, outscoring the Rams 13-2 to build a 24-9 halftime lead. The Rams started quickly in the third quarter, cutting the lead to 7 at one point after baskets by Alexa Peters, Ester Van Horn and Emma Shipley. Perry senior Lydia Olejniczak took the game over with back to back 3 point plays to start the fourth quarter and seal the win for Perry. Olejniczak was the focal point of the Perry offense, finishing with a game high 30 points, and 12 rebounds. She was 7-13 from the free throw line. Karagyn Whelchel and Maci Tunink each added 6 points.
Perry played without two of their starters. Callie Steeva continues to nurse a foot injury while freshman Reagan Baldwin missed the game with a lower leg injury. Ram star Emma Hoyle missed the game with an ankle injury.
Perry improves to 5-12 and 3-9 in HOI action while Greene County falls to 0-17 and 0-12 in HOI.
Perry returns home Friday for Saydel.
