Dallas Center-Grimes boys basketball take a top team in the conference to the wire at the end of the game Tuesday.
The Mustangs took on the Norwalk Warriors, a team in which they beat by 11 points in early January on the road. The game would start out on the right foot for DCG as they got up at the end of the first 16 to 12. In the second quarter the Mustangs would play some of their best basketball all season with outside shooting and stellar defense and would carry a 37 to 21 lead into intermission. Norwalk wasn’t done, they would claw their way back into the ball game cutting the lead to just nine with the play from Cameron Thomas and Braeden Carlson. In the Fourth, the Warriors would only give up five points on defense and they would score 16 points to tie and send the game into overtime at the score of 61 to 61. In the overtime period, Thomas would hit a big three pointer and Redek Born would get to the free throw line and that was enough the final score was 67 to 64.
Mustangs fall to (9-7) and (4-5) in conference play and take on Indianola on the road Friday.
