The third annual Greene County High School Athletic Hall of Fame induction ceremony is happening later this week.

Activities Director Dave Wright says five people will be joining others from the previous two years to be inducted, and they include Class of 1986 Bryce Paup for football, Class of 1991 and 1998 with Mark and Kelley Lane, both for baseball; track and field star Allison Drewry from the Class 1994, along with another individual who was considered for a special category because of his contributions.

“Doug Rieder, the voice of the Rams since 1979 and he’s done a tremendous job representing our kids and promoting them, and keeping people up to date on what’s going on with our students, and Ram activities. (He’s) just a walking encyclopedia of Ram history. He’s just been a great asset to our school communities.”

The induction ceremony will take place on Thursday beginning with a reception at 6pm in the high school commons, followed by the ceremony at 6:45pm in the auditorium. Wright invites the public to come out for this free event.

“It’s just a nice evening to celebrate former graduates of our schools that were involved in our school community. During that meet and greet, people can talk to our inductees and reminisce, or reacquaint, or congratulate, whatever the case may be. So yeah, we want the public to come out to that.”

Wright adds another recognition ceremony will happen the next night on Friday between the varsity girls and boys doubleheader basketball games in the high school gym.
