A Congressional Representative from Iowa was selected to a prestigious committee in the US House.
Congressman for Iowa’s Third District Zach Nunn was appointed to the House Financial Services Committee for the 118th Congress. Nunn says that the Financial Services Committee is one of the top four committees in Congress and they rarely accept freshman members to be on. He tells Raccoon Valley Radio that he is humbled to be a member of this group.
“Most importantly, we get to have a real say on issues that are important to places like Iowa, being in financial services. I say this to everybody in Washington, I was like, ‘You clearly haven’t been to Des Moines. If you don’t know, Des Moines is the leader on insurance, on community savings, banks, on credit unions, on Farm Bureau issues, on flood insurance, on crop insurance.’ These are all things that impact seven out of ten Iowans just in the daily jobs that they have. These are important and we are privileged to get to be a fighter for Iowa on financial services.”
The Financial Services Committee oversees the nation’s financial services sectors including banking, insurance, real estate, public and assisted housing, consumer protection and national security. Nunn is one of seven Grand Old Party (GOP) freshmen to be selected to this committee.
