Some members of the Iowa Senate are pushing for an increase to the veterans trust fund to meet the needs of inflation. 

The Iowa Veterans Trust fund helps low-income veterans with unexpected expenses. Iowa Senator for District 14 Sarah Trone-Garriott says that she has partnered with her colleague Senator Bill Dotzler of Waterloo to authorize more money for the fund. 

“Every year, this fund runs out early in the year and it helps support veterans with a number of emergency needs, health care needs. There’s a housing trust fund, and we need to put more money in this trust.”

Dotzler is proposing a half-a-million-dollar emergency allotment for the next five months that would make sure there is a million dollars in the veterans trust fund every year.
