The University of Northern Iowa hosted the Jack Jennett Invitational track & field meet Friday inside the UNI-Dome in Cedar Falls. Carter Morton of Jefferson, a 2020 Greene County High School graduate, won the men’s long jump at the event, leaping 23′ 6″. Morton is a multi-event athlete, meaning he competes in the heptathlon (seven events) indoors and decathlon (10 events) outdoors, but not every meet has those events because they are held over two days and some meets are held in one day.
Morton and his teammates will be in Lincoln this Friday and Saturday for the Husker Invite at the U. of Nebraska. He is the son of Chad and Deb Morton of Jefferson.
