Two of three counties in the Raccoon Valley Radio area saw a drop in unemployment last month.
According to Iowa Workforce Development, Guthrie County had an increase in unemployment from November to December, from 2.9-percent to 3.1-percent. Whereas Greene and Dallas counties saw a slight decrease in unemployment from November of 2.2-percent for both counties to December with 2.1-percent for Dallas County and two-percent for Greene County.
All three counties had better unemployment percentages than the previous December. Iowa Workforce Development reports in December of 2021, Guthrie County was at 3.6-percent unemployment, Greene County was at 2.8-percent and Dallas County had 2.4-percent unemployment.
Iowa’s unemployment rate last month was stagnant from November, remaining at 3.1-percent in December. The national unemployment rate for December was 3.5-percent.
