A Jefferson man was sentenced to probation for harassment.
According to court documents, 68-year-old Carl Hale pled guilty to an aggravated misdemeanor for first degree harassment. As part of a plea agreement, Hale had a two year prison sentence suspended and was placed on probation for two years with the Iowa Department of Corrections.
The charge stemmed from an investigation with the Jefferson Police Department that started on October 17th. The victim said Hale’s aggressive behavior led to him having some mental health issues.
Hale was also ordered to pay for court costs, while having the fine and surcharge suspended. As per the plea agreement, the state dismissed the Class D Felony charge for second offense for stalking.
