After a furious stretch of competition in the first three weeks of 2023, the Greene County wrestling team has a light week. The ACGC Charger Invitational on Saturday is the only event on the schedule after going Tuesday, Friday, and Saturday last week. Coach Zach Beekman’s team is a little banged up, so a lighter schedule at this time of year suits him just fine. The team did add a home triangular at the high school in Jefferson next Tuesday the 31st at 6 p.m. with ACGC and Urbandale. Originally, Estherville-Lincon Central was going to be in the field, now they will not be involved.
Coach Beekman told Raccoon Valley Radio “We have been going pretty hard and now we need to get some guys healed up and ready to go for the postseason.” The coach wasn’t certain how many wrestlers would compete on Saturday, or Tuesday, saying they would take it day by day.
Jan. 31 is the last action of the regular season with the Rams going to Webster City on Feb. 11 for a Class 2A District Tournament to determine qualifiers for the Feb. 15-18 State Tournament in Des Moines.
