Greene County and Paton-Churdan High Schools are preparing for the Iowa High School Speech Association District Large Group Contest.

Greene County Speech Coach Kelley Gray tells Raccoon Valley Radio about 28 students will be competing in six categories, including Choral Reading, Readers Theater, Short Film, Group Improvisation, Ensemble Acting and Radio News. Paton-Churdan Speech Coach Lauren Boysen says nine students are in two categories, including Musical Theater and Readers Theater.

The categories that received a Division-I rating from the room judge qualify for the state contest. Both Greene County and Paton-Churdan are going to Johnston Middle School on Saturday for the district contest.
