Tonight is big for the Greene County wrestling team as its Senior Night, the last action on the home mat in the high school gym in Jefferson this season (unless later action is scheduled due to an open date), and also milestone night for a pair of senior athletes. Off the mat, it’s Junior Class Chili Supper Night in the commons area as a fundraiser for the Jr.-Sr. Prom held in April.

West Marshall (State Center) and Roland-Story (Story City) provide the opposition starting at 6 o’clock. The Trojans are 5-4 overall and 3-1 in Heart of Iowa Activities Conference dual meets and the Norsemen are 4-12, 1-3. Greene County is 10-8 overall and 4-1 in the conference.

Seniors and their parent will be introduced and two seniors, McKinley Robbins and Kale Petersen, can hit more milestones in their storied careers. Robbins became the program’s all-time wins leader and all-time pins leader last Saturday at the Perry Invitational. He’s sitting at 149 career victories, so his next win puts him at 150, and another fall will extend his record beyond the current 86. He pinned his way to the title in Perry.

The Rams have as full a weekend as possible with the Heart of Iowa Activities Conference Tournament at 5 p.m. Friday in Perry, followed by the Ed Winger Invitational at Urbandale High School at 9 a.m. Saturday.
