The Perry School Board approved financial assistance from the state to provide programming for students identified as potential dropouts.

The Board approved the Modified Supplemental Amount Application for At-Risk and Dropout Prevention in the amount of $673,478. Superintendent Clark Wicks says that this money will go towards councilors in each school, juvenile liaisons, credit recovery programs, paraeducators and their success center. Wicks tells Raccoon Valley Radio that an at-risk dropout prevention program is a benefit for the district.

“We have a number of different people that really focus on mental health, the emotional health of kids. And we’re fortunate to have an at risk dropout prevention program to do so. So it’s a huge asset.”

Wicks notes they want their students to be strong emotionally and mentally to perform well academically.
