The Adel Chamber of Commerce held a ribbon cutting for a recognizable chain of convenience stores on Tuesday. 

The ceremony was for the new Quik Star location on 1204 Gutherie Street in DeSoto that serves gas, food and merchandise and has businesses all around Iowa. During the presentation, the company also made a vow to be a part of the community by donating $1,000 to the non-profits that include the Adel-DeSoto-Minburn Booster Club and the DeSoto Police Department. Quik StarDistrict Leader Mitchell Schneider says that donating to local non-profit organizations fits their mission statement as a company. 

“We generally like to donate to the police or fire department just because they serve such an integral role to our departments or our stores. And then with the school nearby, just the kids, we have quite a few kids that work here. So we started working with them and just supporting the school and in their programs.”

Schneider says the community is excited about their location from the products to the cost and the cleanliness of their establishment.
