West Central Valley School District is having work done on one of their buildings.
Superintendent Rusty Shockley says that over Christmas break, a water pipe burst in the Dexter Elementary school building during winter break, and there was significant water damage. The district is replacing carpet and drywall in several rooms, and fixing cupboards and cabinets as well. Shockley tells Raccoon Valley Radio how long repairs may take.
“Initially, they said somewhere between five weeks and ten weeks. We’re already in week two, so I think it’s going extremely well, especially this last week. So I think we could potentially be back in Dexter (Elementary) in three weeks. That’s going to be a really optimistic view.”
Shockley adds that even while three more weeks is pretty optimistic, it’s more likely that it may take a bit more time to finish the repairs, based on if the district can acquire the amount of carpeting and drywall that it needs, and how long it would take to get those supplies.
