Non-conference opponent Grandview Christian of Des Moines visits Greene County in the high school gym in Jefferson tonight for a girl/boy basketball doubleheader. The action can be heard on KG98 and streamed on www.raccoonvalleyradio.com starting at 5:45 p.m.
The Thunder is top ranked Class 1A team in Iowa at 9-0 while the GV Christian girls have a 7-4 record. The GVC boys play teams mostly larger in size due to their past success and private school status, bringing in players from a vastly larger area than public schools. Their victories so far this season have included 4A programs, Des Moines East, Des Moines Lincoln, and Des Moines North. The margin of victory against the six schools they played who are not 4A in size is 35 points on average. With players at 7′ o”, 6′ 9″, 6′ 5″, and 6′ 4″, they tower over nearly every opponent, regardless size of school.
Greene County is 0-10 in girls’ basketball and 4-6 on the boys’ side. This will be the third of four nights in a row at home in 2023 with make up action tomorrow night in Jefferson vs. Perry on KG98 and streamed on www.raccoonvalleyradio.com.
