The new year has just begun, and Guthrie County Attorney Dana Minteer is eager to get started.

This is Minteer’s first term as County Attorney, after she won election for the position this past November, but she says she has experience with other county attorney offices after interning with the Polk and Story County Attornies. She tells Raccoon Radio that she doesn’t have big plans on changing how things are run in the office yet, but that as things progress, she’ll look to change anything as needed.

“I would definitely say keeping the county on the path that it’s been on. Really supporting our law enforcement officers, really providing them with the support, enforcing the laws. Keeping drugs off the street, any unnecessary firearms. If people are willing, if they have drug or alcohol problems, being able to provide them with some sort of rehabilitation. But keeping the community safe, and sort of keeping us on the right track that we have been on.”

Minteer is an Iowa native from Eldora in Hardin County. She says she may not be from Guthrie County, but that she loves the rural community, and is passionate about making the county a place people are proud to live.
