A longtime assistant attorney is the new county attorney for Dallas County.

The Dallas County Board of Supervisors recently decided to appoint Jeannine Ritchie as the county attorney to replace Chuck Sinnard who accepted a district judge appointment  from Governor Kim Reynolds. Ritchie was born and raised in Van Meter and went to law school at the University of Creighton. Ritchie has spent the last 34 years as the assistant county attorney and she lays out how the office will run under her leadership.

“Well, I think first and foremost is to continue to serve our community and here in Dallas County and to be able to do justice for those who are held accountable in our criminal justice system. Also, to do the best I can for the county and all of their projects that we have going on with the expanded growth along with the department heads and supervisors.”

Ritchie says her other goals are to mentor younger attorneys in the office and prosecute criminal cases to the highest level possible. Ritchie will serve as the county attorney until the general election in November of 2024.
