The Greene County School District recently launched a new website to promote one of its biggest assets.
Superintendent Brett Abbotts tells Raccoon Valley Radio there is a Career Academy website that was created with the help of Technology Director Brent Gerzema and Career Academy Director Teresa Green, along with the district’s software developer. Abbotts talks about the overall goal of why he felt there needed to be a separate website for the Career Academy.
“What that is it’s that clarity piece that we’re really looking for the Career Academy. So now it’s, ‘What is it, and what do we do, and what are our students actually doing out there?’ to provide that first layer look of what’s going on.”
Abbotts points out the website is user-friendly and describes each of the seven strands that are offered for higher education and career fields in welding, agriculture technology, computer science, construction, culinary and hospitality, and health care. He explains some of the other things that are also incorporated with the website.
“We’re working with a graphic designer to come up with a logo for each one of our seven strands, so people will be able to click on that logo and go in. It’ll tell you all what that strand is about, we’ll have a promotional video that’s made by our students, we’ll have what students can take in the fall and spring semesters, and how students work through and complete that strand to earn their second creditental.”
The Greene County Career Academy classes are taught by Iowa Central Community College staff. Click the link below to access the website.
