There was a two vehicle crash that left one driver injured and a vehicle on fire near Dexter Wednesday.
According to the Iowa State Patrol, troopers responded to the incident at approximately 2pm near mile marker 99, near Dexter on Interstate-80. Sergeant Alex Dinkla says that a semi truck collided with a passenger vehicle after trying to change lanes. The passenger vehicle slid into the median and caught fire. With the help of Samaritans, the driver was able to get out of the vehicle before it was fully engulfed in flames.
The driver of the vehicle was taken to Mercy One Medical Center in Des Moines and treated for injuries. The incident remains under investigation by the Iowa State Patrol. Dallas County Sheriff’s Office, Iowa Department of Transportation and the Madison County Sheriff’s Office all responded to the scene.
