Tomorrow is New Year’s Day, but for those that want to go out and be active during the day, a trip to Springbrook State Park may be in order.
Springbrook Park will be one of over 50 Iowa State Parks participating in the First Day Hike Program. Iowa Department of Natural Resources Interpretive Naturalist and Educator Anne Riordan says that with so many parks participating, some hikers like to visit multiple parks. She adds that hike times are staggered so that people can do just that.
The First Day Hike at Springbrook State Park will start at 1pm tomorrow. Any hikers wanting to participate will need to meet at the park house/office. After the two mile hike, participants can meet back at the house/office to warm up with some hot chocolate. This event is free and open to the public.
