Iowa State University sophomore thrower Danielle Hoyle announced she is cutting her athletic career with the Cyclones short. She made the announcement via facebook.
“After sustaining a back injury, I opted to have surgery in September. My injury left me feeling uncertain about my future as a thrower. After a lot of deliberation, I have come to the decision that it is in my best interest to cut my career short. I am so grateful for opportunity I was given and will always cherish these memories. I would like to give a special thank you to coach Dan O’Mara for taking a chance on me and helping me to grow as a person. I have a lot of hope for the future and am excited t see what will come next. Forever a cyclone.”
The 2021 Paton-Churdan High School graduate made waves when she won the Class 1A discus State title that May in her first season of high school track & field. She walked onto the ISU throwing program in August 2021 and had some success both indoors and outdoors as a true freshman.
