Food pantries are a valuable resource for any community.

New Opportunities Of Guthrie County Family Development Coordinator Rhonda Huggins tells Raccoon Valley Radio that usually during the winter months, the food pantry in Guthrie Center is in need of any non-perishables and non-food items.

Huggins says for those looking to donate items, high protein foods like peanut butter, canned meat and beans are a good thing to give, along with hygiene products, toilet paper and paper plates are always needed for paper products. She adds that right now, the pantry could use any kind of canned fruit, canned beans like chili and pork n beans and Hamburger Helper and Tuna Helper.

For anyone looking to donate, items can be brought to the New Opportunities office inside city hall.
